Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesCHI St. Vincent Medical Group in Little Rock, AR is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Intensivist/Hospitalist Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing team. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in both critical care and hospital medicine.
The Physician Assistant is a licensed professional provider that works under the supervision and direction of collaborating physicians or the Medical Director for the Hospitalist program; they provide direct, comprehensive, preventative and therapeutic healthcare to patients and families including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescription, counseling and instruction in compliance with Provder Protocols and all regulations governing PA's.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct patient care in collaboration with supervising physicians, including history taking, physical examinations, and development of diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests such as laboratory studies, imaging, and other specialized procedures.
- Formulate and implement care plans for critically ill and hospitalized patients, managing a wide range of complex medical conditions.
- Perform and assist with medical procedures.
- Participate in daily rounds with the intensivist/hospitalist team, presenting patient information, discussing management strategies, and documenting progress.
- Educate patients and their families regarding medical conditions, treatment plans, and prognoses, ensuring clear communication and addressing concerns.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, residents, consultants, and other support staff, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records documentation of all patient encounters, orders, and communications.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education, and other professional development activities.
Job Requirements
- Current PA licensure in Arkansas
- Documentation compliant with the Medical Board of satisfactory completion of a PA educational program and completion of preceptorship
- Acute Care certification
- Eligibility for a Medicare provider number and DEA registration
- Experience in provider patient care
