Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs our Nocturnist Physician you will help Dignity Health Medical Group patients receive expert inpatient care so they can achieve optimal health outcomes and recovery.
Everyday you will deliver direct patient care for complex internal medicine conditions, ranging from diabetes management to critical illness intervention. You will be expected to perform inpatient consultations, efficiently discharge patients from emergency and clinical decision units, and contribute to the education of medical students and residents, ensuring the highest standards of clinical competency and continuous learning within a leading medical center.
To be successful in this role, you must possess extensive experience in managing a high-acuity patient census, a strong commitment to quality improvement initiatives, and exceptional communication skills to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary medical team. Ideal candidates will thrive in a Level 1 trauma center environment with high-volume emergency and critical care services, including advanced neurosurgery and cardiovascular care.
- Average census is 15-17 but can be as high as 20 at times
- Provide inpatient consults to patients admitted to the hospital, including critically ill floor patients
- Provides direct patient care for internal medicine conditions, treating diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart attacks, and other serious illnesses
- Discharges patients from the ER or Clinical Decision Unit as necessary
- Teach medical students, residents and medical staff. Assists manager of department in evaluating clinical competencies of staff and participates in formal and informal staff education and training programs on a regular basis
- Provide input into the development and implementation of appropriate clinical programs and technology
- Communicate with colleagues and other members of the medical staff to promote positive relations
- Assists department in collecting data for medical quality/performance improvement (QI) program

Job Requirements
Required
- MD or DO Degree and Active Board Certification
- Active or eligible license in the state of Arizona State medical licensure
- Completed ACGME Residency training with current ABMS Board Certification
- Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals
Preferred
- Faculty Hospitalist experience is preferred, but not required
Where You'll Work
Chandler Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a full-service acute care hospital with 100+ intensive care beds located just outside of downtown Phoenix. The hospital has approximately 78,000 emergency department annual visits and is the busiest Level 1 trauma center in the state of Arizona, with over 5000 trauma activations annually. It is also a primary stroke center, high volume neurosurgery center, and provides high acuity cardiovascular and cardiac surgery services. Critical care services are provided in house, 24 hours a day, by attending intensivists.
