The Northport VA Medical Center is seeking a staff Cardiologist. General clinical responsibilities include examinations, diagnosis, therapeutic-ability, effectiveness in emergencies, patient management, consultation, specialty skills and record keeping. Specialty abilities include Directorship of Cardiovascular Imaging. The successful candidate will develop and manage the Cardiovascular Imaging subsection. This will necessitate National Board of Echocardiography active Testamur status (or equivalent).

We have a close affiliation with Stony Brook University and participate in their residency teaching programs and conferences. Opportunity for academic appointment at Stony Brook University.

Work Schedule: Full time - Monday-Friday

Pay Range: $260,000 - $285,000

  • This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
  • Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
  • 49-54 days of annual paid time offer per year
  • Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
  • Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term
  • No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting


  • Board Certification in Cardiology
  • American Heart Association - BLS Certification.
  • National Board of Echocardiography active Testamur status (or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications: Certification in reading nuclear stress tests
