Why Choose Berkshire Health Systems?

Because we are an award-winning organization that strives every day to provide the highest standards of care to our patients, their families and to our community.

After more than a decade of investments in people, technology and facilities, we have created an environment where talented physicians can deliver exceptional care.

Berkshire Medical Center, our anchor 292-bed hospital in Pittsfield, MA, is ranked among the Top 5% of Hospitals in the Nation for Clinical Excellence by HealthGrades® and a recipient of HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence for 2013, 2014 and 2015, along with Excellence Awards for Joint Replacement, Pulmonary, and Critical Care, and is Five-Star Rated in numerous specialty areas. BMC has earned more recognition for cardiovascular care by the American Heart Association than any other hospital in the United States. BMC is also a Level III Trauma Center, a Primary Stroke Center, and has multiple major accreditations and awards.

Fairview Hospital, our 25-bed critical access hospital in nearby Great Barrington, MA, has been recognized by HealthGrades with its 2015 Outstanding Patient Safety and Outstanding Patient Satisfication Awards, and is a Leapfrog Top 100 Rural Hospital. Teaming with its sister hospital, Berkshire Medical Center, patients at Fairview have access to a full continuum of care.

Our physicians chose Berkshire Health Systems for many of the following reasons:

Outstanding Clinical Care: Our quality is extraordinary, and this has been validated independently by many organizations, such as HealthGrades, The Joint Commission and CareChex, to name a few. What stands behind these recognitions are great outcomes that our patients have experienced from exceptional providers of care.

National Recognition for Technology: BMC is a leader in the use of system-wide electronic health records and was one of the first group of Massachusetts hospitals to utilize Computerized Physician Order Entry and has a comprehensive Electronic Health Record system for both inpatient and physician practices. As a result of its leading edge use of technology, Berkshire Health Systems has been recognized as one of the nation's Most Wired for 2011 and 2012. Read more about our leading edge technology.
